You're thinking about your upcoming week, you KNOW the bullet journal process is going to be a helpful tool for organizing your life but you’re just starting out and you need to ease your way in. You need a simple bullet journal weekly spread to get you started.
You’re in luck! Below are 5 steps to get you to a simple spread for your upcoming week.
Step 1 - Get your bullet journal out
Get your favorite notebook open to two facing pages. Split the pages into even sections using light pencil strokes because you will want to erase them later.
Step 2 - Create outlines for your weekly spread
Find something that you can use to create circles. I used a stencil that is in my triangle ruler but I've also used any bottle cap that was easily accessible. Do a quick scan around your home, you will be amazed at how easily you can find something that you can use to trace a circle.
Trace circles in the top left corner of seven of the eight outlined boxes, one for each day of the week.
Step 3 - Add the Ink
Outline your circles using your favorite pen. After years of trial and error, one of my favorite sizes is .05 it’s the perfect thickness for me. I have a few favorite brands, the one I am using here is the Sakura Pigma Micron.
Write your month above your previously made top outline and once you have it all outlined then you get to erase, erase, erase all those light pencil strokes.
Step 4 - Add color to your weekly spread
It’s time for the fun stuff! Add a little color to your weekly spread by filling in your circles with color and adding a little embellishment in the empty space beside the spot for the 7th day. I use stickers here to save myself time, I added a few cute leaf stickers that worked well with my circle colors.
Step 5 - The Final Touches
That final step is writing out your days of the week and dates. I used abbreviations for my days so I could manage the space but you can use the whole word. Once you have your days written out then add your dates inside the circles. I do this as one of the final steps to allow the color in the circles to be completely dry so there is no ink bleed.
Now your weekly spread is complete and you are ready to add your tasks or “to do” lists. Don’t forget to be reasonable and cut yourself some slack. I know that list is long and you feel like your tasks are endless but you can’t get it all done in one day or sometimes even one week so pace yourself.
